maternity clothes: no need to bargain hunt

August 24, 2011 in mommy stuff

All Mommy-to-Be’s are in the same boat, you need maternity clothes. But do you spend hundreds of dollars on a whole new wardrobe for nine months of wear? With the two ideas I have below, I hope you don’t have to bargain hunt for maternity clothes at all!

I didn’t have to buy a lot of maternity clothes with both of my pregnancies. The best way you can save on maternity clothes is to gather a community of girlfriends whose been pregnant before and collect them all for yourself! You can also add to the pool because not everything you gather will be in your taste or fit so you just might need to buy a few items which is fine because that is your way to contribute to the maternity clothes pool too. Your girlfriends will appreciate you adding to the pool as well since they may need the maternity clothes back again. That’s what I did with just two of my friends and I had a huge wardrobe, I really hardly had to buy anything! Getting a few pregnant girlfriends together and start a maternity clothes pool will save you lots of money and can get you through two or three pregnancies!

The only thing I liked buying for myself was pants. Maternity pants generally drove me crazy, anything that went on my belly drove me nuts! So whether the pants were for mid-belly or full-belly, I couldn’t wear them because the top of the pants kept rolling down. I also didn’t even like the supposedly low-belly ones, the only maternity pants I liked were the ones I got from Old Navy which was totally under the belly. But even those, they were hard to find. My solution for REALLY comfortable pants was getting the bellybelt! How awesome was this find for me?! I LOVED IT! The bellybelt adds inches your non-maternity pants and jeans so that you can just wear what’s been comfortable for you before you were pregnant. I totally found that my non-maternity pants and jeans actually fit through my third tri-mester with this little invention.

The best part of it is that it’s only $19.99! You can’t beat that price since it saves you so much money on maternity pants. Added bonus: it works on your skirts too! The belts are easy to use, you just insert a belt into the fabric panel that it comes with and attach it to your favorite pants or skirt. The fabric panel is used to cover the gap that the belt creates. Now you can turn any of your own pants and skirts into maternity clothes with the bellybelt!

With these ideas, I hope you don’t have to bargain hunt for maternity clothes too much.

Happy Baby Making!
